History buffs on the other hand can enjoy and admire ancient Mayan ruins.

Here’s a list of sights you shouldn’t miss on your next trip there

Coco Bongo

Coco Bongo the hottest spot of Cancun night life is much more than a traditional night club. There’s no dance floor and the performance seems to be endless. It consists of acrobats, impersonators and artists as much as bands and conga lines. Soap bubbles, confetti, balloons and projected videos are also a standard part of a night at Coco Bongo. Just be prepared for the long lines, because everyone wants to be there.

Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve

Cancun is known for its beautiful and untouched beaches, but the experts from Sol Caribbean Travel say that the tourists enjoy Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve the most. The reserve is listed as UNESCO heritage site and it covers more than one million acres. It contains 23 archaeological sites and numerous wildlife habitats. Most of the beaches are accessible only through an opening in the jungle. Just one important tip: it’s a secluded and peaceful place, so bring everything you need with you beforehand, there aren’t many places to shop nearby.

Interactive aquarium

If you’re visiting Cancun with kids, interactive aquarium near La Isla Shopping Village is a place to see. Hotel zone is nearby and it’s usually the attraction people leave for a rainy day. It allows you to get close so you can both learn about the wildlife and experience it for yourself. Attractions include swimming with the white sharks, feeding the dolphins and a variety of touch tanks kids especially enjoy. Nature lovers (or those who will become nature lovers) will have a blast.

Chichen Itza

One of the seven wonders of the world, Chichen Itza is the largest and the most impressive Mayan ruin in the region. If you only have time for one excursion during your Cancun trip – go there. It’s an opportunity to learn about ancient and strange culture first hand. It becomes even more impressive when you find out that the massive structure was built using just manpower and without the help of the wheel. The area where the human sacrifices were made is especially popular. Just remember to bring a lot of water and sun cream, because it’s literally the middle of the jungle.

Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres is the easternmost point of Mexico and it’s just 15 minute boat ride from Cancun. Water taxis and ferries go there regularly and tour guides usually provide tourists with lunch along with the tour. You can rent a golf cart and visit the entire island that way. There are numerous seafood restaurants and shops on the island, but its most famous inhabitants are sea turtles in a local wildlife park which is open for public.

Carey Dive Center

Located on Isla Mujeres, Carey Dive Center is the most established scuba diving facility in Mexico. It offers scuba diving, PADI diving courses, snorkeling, fishing and whale shark tours. Experienced diving instructors are there for the beginners as well as the more adventurous tourist. Important tip: wear a wetsuit, if you don’t, you have to wear a life jacket and that’s far less enjoyable.
