Following on from their successful even in 2012, Unearthed in a Field returns to Pembrokeshire in June 2014. For the uninitiated Unearth In a field is a wonderfully strange and interesting festival that celebrates expanding your consciousness through different forms of performance art, music, communication and discussion.

In order words as the festival organisers say on their official website “What this means tangibly is that we will be bringing a whole heap of beautiful things to stimulate your mind and body”

With regard to terms of activities and talks there is a wide range of different things including belly dancers, trapeze artists, yoga, fire dancers, circus skills, mosaic making, hula hooping, drumming, meditation, reflexology, Pilates, wild food foraging and acupuncture and many more.

This really is a unique event and one that all socially and environmentally conscious individuals will love. The best thing with regards to glamping and why we are mentioning it on our blog is that glamping and camping is encouraged at this festival. You can either bring along your own tent and pitch up or stay in one of their bell tents or yurts for the weekend. What’s even better is the fact that if you have a weekend ticket, camping is completely free. Don’t worry if you don’t fancy going for the whole weekend, camping is at the low price of £2 a night with a day ticket.

The musical entertainment we are promised is comprised of a selection of some brilliant reggae, folk and roots vibes from around Britain, as well as some performers from Colombia and Africa bringing rhythms from their own countries.

At Discover Glamping, there was one thing that really caught our eye and that was the workshops, especially the wild foraging and mosaic making, as we are always interested in both crafty things and things involving looking for our own food in the countryside around us.

Even if you can’t get a chance to get out there in Pembrokeshire and look for your own food, they actually have a wild foraged café that serves dishes made entirely of locally and ethically sourced ingredients. We are very interested in the idea of eating what you find in the forests and fields in your local area, but obviously there is pitfalls as you might pick something poisonous – so the information at those particular workshops will be helpful.

There is of course a bar, which sells delicious non-alcoholic drinks as well as many interesting alcoholic drinks that you won’t find in your local pub. These are not only from the Pembrokeshire area, but also from across the seas – a favourite last time round in 2012 was caiparinha.

Although the event is not free, the tickets are still more reasonable compared to some other events that happen in the summer months. And for the array of strange and interesting things that are on offer, you can’t beat it. Whether the things are your normal interests or you are looking for something a bit different for you and the whole family, then we would thoroughly recommend you giving this further inspection and research.
